Terms of use

These terms apply to the Gale Download Manager app for Windows and the Gale browser extension ("Gale"). By installing or using Gale you agree to them.

1. License

Gale is free and open-source software released under the MIT License. You may use, copy, modify and share it under that license. Gale includes third-party components (such as yt-dlp and FFmpeg) that are covered by their own licenses, listed in THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt.

2. Acceptable use

You are responsible for what you download with Gale. You agree to:

  • download only content you have the right to download, and respect copyright and the terms of the websites you use
  • not use Gale to get around paywalls, logins, DRM or other access controls (Gale refuses DRM-protected media)
  • not use Gale to overload or attack servers, or for anything unlawful where you live

3. No warranty

Gale is provided "as is", without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose and non-infringement. Downloads can fail, websites change, and files from the internet can be harmful; keep your own backups and use antivirus protection.

4. Limitation of liability

To the fullest extent allowed by law, the developer is not liable for any damages arising from the use of, or inability to use, Gale, including lost data, lost profits or damage to your device.

5. Third-party websites

Gale works with websites and services that the developer does not control. Their terms and privacy policies apply when you use them. Gale is not affiliated with or endorsed by Google, YouTube, Microsoft or any other website it can download from. All trademarks belong to their owners.

6. Privacy

How Gale handles data is described in the Privacy Policy.

7. Changes

These terms may be updated. The current version is always at https://github.com/faizzyhon/Gale---Free-Download-Manager/blob/main/TERMS.md. Continuing to use Gale after a change means you accept the updated terms.
